I hardly ever hear about them. Anyone own one. Good, bad. 4 cyl honda engines on some. No waste tank?. Can you just put any container in your van and dump to it?.

the one I saw being rebuilt at a local suppliers looked pretty crude, the welds looked really ghetto, I could weld better than that, and that is not saying much. also the blower was mounted using bolts that had the bolt heads welded to the frame and the blower sat on nuts that could be adjusted up or down, it must work because they where still there after many years and hours, it just looked like the vibration would break something like that. it does have a nissan engine which should last forever

It actually has a small waste tank,but with the apo you run 1" hose to wherever you want to put the dirty water.

A restoration company here has one. Seems to work ok for them but to me they do look pretty ghetto. Like Steve said bad welds and poor construction IMO.

I'm pretty sure they "had" nissan engines, since the A-15 is no longer made, they've moved on to something else as has everyone else.

I'm not against a Fox, I'm neutral cause there are a lot of them out there on the west coast and still running, but there are other good options too, so going without a waste tank is not top of my list.

Paul Brown has one. It's his second or third one.

He has nothing but good things to say about it.

The pump out is bullet- proof.

It was being worked on at one of the local distys

I climbed in the van and had a look around.
It was an older unit (or at least plenty hours on it)
It didn't look like a bad TM to me.

Seems there was something odd about it though, but I can't recall what it was.
It wasn't the dinky waste tank, it was something else

the dude that owned wasn't there, so I wasn't able to talk to him about how it was as far reliability

I "hear" they're one of the quietest slide-ins made.
Donno if that was marketing hype or read it on the boards from someone who actually heard one run

They are quite a nice unit, Albert. From personal experience...they DO run forever when maintained...Heat is not amazing...but they have upgraded the heating system...I popped my heat exchangers on the unit (sound familiar, Albert?) so I used a little giant heater...pump out worked great for the 3 or so years that I used the unit.

The waste tank has a wash out system...never a funky tank smell...I just ran one more hose into the house for the pump out water...It provided a real good marketing opportunity when folks would ask what is that terrible black water?


I am sure that Prochem got there idea for a 4 cylinder water cooled truckmount from the Organic Compounds Fox Unit...as they were making them prior to Prochem.


The only negative thing I found on the pump-out design...One time I was cleaning for a family...the ancient Dad had Alzheimers...when I went to retrieve the hose from a toilet...Gramps was in there...peeing on it! Oh well!


Paul Brown is a good source for buying one of these units...he sells them.

They are very reliable. I use to have one with a nissan 4cyl and never had problems. They don't have a ton of heat or suction but they just don't break.

I visited their headquarters last year. The guy running the place obviously took a lot pride in the machines they were building. I have visited other manufacturers and they definitely stood out to me as a quality company. I got the same impression from the Judsons.

I bought (2) 55 gallon containers .. floor footprint 18in x 18in by 45in tall .. has a wide mouth at top with screw on cap and a 2in drain cap at the floor on the side of it .. I can pump out in to it if needed or it can be used as space saving fresh water tank .. it cost me about $110 each (roughly) go to website and click on flat bottom utility and youll see 55gal

Thanks for the heads up. I do like that they are quite (sp.). Apparantley they run at 2200 rpm. I have an lg for post heating if necessary.

I talked to the guy today. It's the 6000 nissan 44hp 2001 model. Has I think 1100 hours. The guy wants 7k but willing to go down. TM only. Apparantley he bought it from Paul Brown (I think that's his name) som years ago. I have a few 60 gallon containers similiar to what Paul is saying but How much do you guys think it would cost to have a belly tank built for it , dual water/waste like Larry's tm's?. The machine weighs close to 900 lbs so I don't know if it would be possible.

I guess because I've always had one and can see me illegally dumping in certain situations if I didn't have one. No waste tank on your hydramaster?

Yes, but putting another apo on soon cause once you had one ,you dont want to go back.And as far as dumping,you can put on the level areas of the lawn,flower bed,sewer cleanout.It only dumps as much as you are putting down 1 1/2 gals a min. tops.I remember years back you guys had such a water problem(drought)that you could probably have gotten paid to water peoples lawns.

It was MY FAULT the Heat Exchanger popped...just got the machine...put on a new pressure pump...started it and the regulator had been turned WAY up...not a fault of the machine.
