Friction burn?

Is this most likely friction burn I've read about that can happen on olefin carpet? The the fibers look semi melted together, didn't budge with cleaning attempts as expected after inspection, and the fibers in the affected area feel stiff.

Friction burns are typically drag marks I believe. That's probably from a spill that melted it maybe something hot was set on it. Somebodies personal heater under a desk?

Ah that makes sense. Yea I suppose drag marks of some sort would be evident. Thanks!
