You are looking at it through 3.0's eyes. Look at it through a parent who watches the news everyday eyes. Places you would think had trusting adult males around children, like the Catholic Church, The Boy Scouts, sports doctors, etc. always in the news a lot. Now you come along with an unsolicited offer to help around the yard in the same text that you mentioned their daughter. I would be 100% concerned if it was me!

Sadly, people can have all sorts of wrong impressions of good intentions

A contractor was at a woman's home, and she was crying her eyes out about her husband leaving her. The guy sat down next to her, and put his arm around to comfort her.

They talked a bit longer, then he left.

Later that day he was arrested for indecent exposure.

At the trial, it came to be found that she based her complaint on the fact that his...you know....was sticking out of the leg of his shorts. It seems that a roll of his fat looked like what she thought she saw.

A picture had to be produced of his actual...equipment...which was far too small to exit his pant leg under any circumstances.

In all events, the problem would not have occurred had he not seated himself next to the woman and put his arm around her.
